About Micro Silica

Micro Silica, also known as silica fume, is a byproduct of producing silicon metal or ferrosilicon alloys. It is an ultrafine powder collected as a byproduct of the industrial smelting process, consisting of spherical particles less than 1 micron in diameter. Micro silica is highly reactive due to its high content of amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO₂), making it a valuable material in various industrial applications, particularly in concrete production.

Applications:

1. Concrete Production:

  • High-Performance Concrete: Micro silica is used to produce high-performance concrete with improved compressive and tensile strength, reduced permeability, and enhanced durability.
  • Shotcrete: Used in sprayed concrete applications for tunneling, mining, and slope stabilization due to its ability to reduce rebound loss and improve adhesion.
  • Marine Structures: Enhances the durability of concrete exposed to harsh marine environments by reducing chloride permeability.

2. Refractory Materials:

  • Refractory Castables: Micro silica improves the flow characteristics, density, and strength of refractory castables used in high-temperature applications such as furnaces and kilns.

3. Oil Well Cementing:

  • Oil and Gas Wells: Used in oil well cementing to improve the properties of the cement slurry, enhancing its strength and resistance to aggressive downhole environments.

4. Polymer and Rubber Industries:

  • Fillers and Reinforcements: Used as a reinforcing filler in polymers and rubber to improve mechanical properties and durability.

5. Fiber Cement Products:

  • Boards and Panels: Enhances the strength, durability, and water resistance of fiber cement boards and panels.

6. Grouting and Repair Materials:
